TORONTO — Pinewood Toronto Studios recently broke ground on its 200,000-square-foot multi-stage expansion near downtown Toronto.
In addition to the previously announced 170,000 square feet, the studio announced an additional 30,000 square feet will be added to the plans, bringing the total to 200,000 square feet of sound stages and support space, states a release.
The official groundbreaking was marked with an explosive stunt in front of the Toronto skyline. The facility provides a space for domestic and international film and TV producers shooting in the city.
With this expansion Pinewood becomes the largest production studio in Canada with 525,000 square feet overall and will be better able to support its growing roster of domestic and international film and television clients.
The contemporary 330,000-square-foot purpose-built production lot is located on a 33.5-acre site.
Its 11 purpose-built stages, including one of North America’s largest purpose-built sound stages — the 46,000 square foot Mega Stage — are soundproofed, clear-span and equipped with power and supporting infrastructure to accommodate productions of all sizes and budgets, the release indicates.
