TORONTO — Green Acre Capital (GAC) is committing $10 million to a partnership with The Friendly Stranger, a Queen Street West Cannabis Culture Shop in Toronto, to allow for a cannabis retail expansion plan.
This is the first investment from GAC’s Fund II, a private investment fund focused on the medical and recreational cannabis industry.
The infusion of GAC funds will help bring dozens of The Friendly Stranger cannabis retail stores to the Canadian market, with an initial focus on Ontario, states a release issued by GAC, adding the stores will carry a wide range of cannabis products.
“With the investment and managerial support from GAC, we believe The Friendly Stranger is positioned to become one of the largest independent cannabis retailers in Ontario, with plans to expand elsewhere in Canada in the coming years,” said GAC managing director Matt Shalhoub in a statement.
