Glass installation is underway on the first phase of the new CIBC Square on Bay Street in Toronto.
The joint development is by Ivanhoe Cambridge and Hines and it is being constructed by EllisDon Ltd. The work includes a 49-storey office building, a podium with retail and three levels of underground parking along with a new Metrolinx GO Bus Terminal. A one-acre elevated park will be built above the rail corridor connecting the two phases and an extension to the PATH pedestrian walkway system linking it to the Scotiabank Arena and Union Station. The project is targeting LEED Platinum certification with completion scheduled for 2020. The architects are Adamson Associates Architects of Toronto along with Wilkinson Eyre Architects of London England. Consultants are Read Jones Christoffersen (structural), The Mitchell Partnership (mechanical), Mulvey & Banani International (electrical) and WSP Canada Inc. (geotechnical). Subtrades include GFL Environmental (site work), The Structural Group (concrete), Walters Group Inc. (structural steel), Maple Terrazzo Marble & Tile Partnership (stone/tile); Plan Group Inc. (HVAC) and Guild Electrical.
