Aoyuan unveils M2M Phase Two near Yonge, Finch in Toronto
AOYUAN—The plan from Wallman Architects for M2M Phase Two calls for two towers with a shared podium.

TORONTO—Aoyuan International has announced further details of its plans for the redevelopment of the 8.6-acre former Newtonbrook Plaza site near the Yonge and Finch subway.

M2M Phase Two will include commercial office space, retail frontage on Yonge Street, a new park, a city-operated community centre and day care spaces alongside residential condominium units. The developer recently submitted a site plan application for the second phase.

Designed by Wallman Architects, the plan calls for two towers with a shared podium. Community spaces will be organized along the eastern edge of the podium, opposite the new one-acre public park.

The day care will be located on the first two floors and the community centre will be located on the third and fourth floors of the podium, with plans for a double-height gymnasium with basketball courts and a running track on the second level.

There will also be breakout and community rooms.

Phase 2 residential units will range from one- to three-bedrooms as well as two-storey townhouses, with two-bedroom units throughout.

Once complete, the development will include five towers with over 1,750 residential units and 180,000 square feet of office and retail space.

“The vision for M2M has always been a complete community designed to promote a healthy lifestyle. For us that means a diversity of uses, more livable spaces and a real connection to the surrounding area,” said Vince Santino, senior vice-president, development of Aoyuan International, in a Nov. 9 release.

“With Phase Two, we’re going to see a lot of our community-focused elements materialize, with the community centre, day care spaces and the public park all scheduled to be delivered.

“We’re really excited, because that’s when you start to see the real integration between our development and the surrounding neighbourhood.”
