PHOTO: Building Up the Block

Work is moving up on the Canary Commons condominiums that is Block 12 of the Canary District development in Toronto.

The owner is Kilmer Group and EllisDon Corp. is the construction manager. The work includes one eight-storey building and one 12-storey building with approximately 400 units. The buildings will be connected by a five-storey podium with retail and commercial space. There will also be two levels of underground parking and the project is aiming for LEED Gold certification. The project was designed by architectsAlliance and consultants are: Jablonsky, Ast & Partners (structural); Able Engineering Inc (mechanical/electrical); Ecovert (geotechnical); U31 Inc. (interior); and NAK Design Strategies (landscape). Subtrades include: Michael Bros. Excavating; GFL Environmental; Limen Group Ltd.; and Otis Group of Companies (elevators).
