TORONTO—The Gladstone Hotel, a historic boutique hotel in Toronto, has been renamed Gladstone House and is slated to begin a phased opening to the public in September, Streetcar Developments and Dream Unlimited Corp. recently announced.
“The new name pays homage to the original Gladstone House engravings on the stone exterior of the building, adding history to the modern reinvention of the historic landmark,” reads a release.
The hotel, situated in West Queen West, will emphasize culture and art which is echoed in the surrounding community and the original architecture will remain preserved.
Designed by Elastic Interiors, the building features modern elements contrasted with colourful contemporary artwork, restored exposed brick walls and innovative lighting applications that transition throughout the day.
The hotel introduced a call for submissions to engage local artists and a panel of jurors selected over 50 works which will be part of an art installation in each of the hotel’s 55 guestrooms and surrounding public spaces.
Gladstone House, a sister property to The Broadview Hotel in Toronto, will be operated by Crescent Hotels & Resorts Latitudes division.
