Nadel Architecture announces Santa Monica hotel completion

Nadel Architecture announces Santa Monica hotel completion
NADEL ARCHITECTURE + PLANNING—Nadel Architecture + Planning has announced completion of the Cambria Hotel Calabasas, a three-storey, 125-room hotel located in Calabasas, Calif.

CALABASAS, CALIF.—Los Angeles architecture firm Nadel Architecture + Planning have announced the completion and opening of the Cambria Hotel Calabasas.

The three-storey, 125-room hotel was developed by Weintraub Real Estate Group and includes modern suites with spa-inspired bathrooms, a heated outdoor pool, a fitness center and a full-service restaurant and bar.

“Our approach to this project was driven by the unique nature of the site combined with emerging consumer demands. Cambria Hotel Calabasas is designed to take advantage of the picturesque Santa Monica Mountains and embrace beachy, Californian design elements in the interior to help guests feel connected to the attractions and scenery of the surrounding community,” Nadel Architecture + Planning president and principal Patrick Winters said in a statement.

He added the development incorporates Spanish and Mediterranean architectural styles to distinguish it from surrounding properties.

“The result is a visually striking structure that maximizes guest’s ability to enjoy the surrounding area and its attractions at a price point that is enticing for budget-friendly travelers. The hotel is also situated on top of a rise, making it easily seen by those passing by, and giving it the upscale look of being silhouetted against an expansive mountainside,” Winters said.

He said most of the project was completed during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic which required “additional discipline and flexibility.”

“Nadel’s deep expertise in the greater Los Angeles market informed the design and enabled us to deliver a visually appealing hotel that effectively utilizes the space, despite the challenges presented in developing a structure against mountains with tight space constraints. Conceptualizing the design of unique and visually distinctive projects like the Cambria speaks to our ability to deliver creative solutions that are both practical and aesthetically appealing,” Winters said.
