Work continues for the Spadina Sussex Student Residence at the University of Toronto’s St. George Campus.

The owner is the University of Toronto and the construction manager is The Daniels Corporation. The project includes one 23-storey building to house 508 students atop a three-storey podium with retail at grade. There will be a mix of dorms and suites and the amenities include a project/experiment room, a music practice room, fitness studio and a student laundry room. A heritage brick building at the south side owned by The Daniels Corporation will be incorporated into the podium as part of a partnership between the university and the developer. There will also be construction of a three-storey townhouse containing rental replacement units and faculty housing. The project is targeted to achieve LEED Silver and completion has been scheduled for 2024.The project was designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects and consultants are Entuitive (structural); Turner and Townsend; Crossey Engineering (mechanical/electrical); and ERA Architects Inc. (heritage).
