This week on the Construction Record podcast digital media editor Warren Frey speaks with Jason Falovo, the general manager and vice-president of Cradlepoint’s Canadian division about how 5G networks can bring high-speed computational power to worksites.
Falovo said the low latency and high speed of 5G networks means job sites in remote locations can use technology such as BIM, digital twinning and other demanding technology while managing their networks through cloud-based software. Safety monitoring and gathering data through onsite sensors can also benefit from 5G network adoption, he added.
Future uses for the technology could even include using cranes and other equipment remotely instead of putting workers at risk, Falovo said.
