Kelowna police ask for help in stolen excavator case

KELOWNA, B.C. – Kelowna police are searching for an excavator that was stolen recently from a construction site.

According to Kelowna RCMP, on Nov. 18, at 3:04 p.m. officers were called to investigate a theft from a worksite located at the corner of Dilworth Drive and Enterprise Way.

The theft reportedly occurred sometime between 10 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. that day, when an employee left the jobsite.

Thieves stole a yellow John Deere model 26 excavator.

According to officers, evidence at the scene suggests the suspect vehicle used to commit the crime fled northbound on Dilworth Drive.

“Our investigators would appreciate if area businesses would perform a check of their video surveillance cameras that capture parking lots or nearby roadways,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey in a press release.

RCMP are also encouraging motorists who may have been in that area during that time to review any dash camera footage that may assist in the investigation.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cst. Regan Donahue of the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300. Tipsters can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net
