First Notice: Construction jobs boost; Procore goes public; Vancouver looks to Chinatown square redesign

 

Construction gained jobs in April

The ADP Canada National Employment Report for April 2021 released today indicated that last month, Canada’s labour force increased by 351,300 jobs from March to April. The construction sector gained 29,900 jobs in that period. The report is a monthly measure of the change in total Canadian nonfarm payroll employment derived from anonymous payroll data of client companies served by ADP Canada and measures more than two million workers in Canada.

Procore announces IPO

Procore announced it is now a publicly-traded company with an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange. The construction management company raised $634.5 million with 9.47 million shares sold for US$67 each. The company has a listed market value of $8.5 billion.

City of Vancouver wants input on Chinatown square

The City of Vancouver is asking the public for input on the future of Chinatown’s Memorial Square. The square is located at the corner of Keefer and Columbia streets. A survey is now available on the design of the plaza and will stay online until June 9. The redesign of the square is part of the city’s Chinatown Transformation Team’s long-term goal to obtain UNESCO World Heritage Site status for Chinatown.
