Saint-Gobain completes acquisition of Bailey Group

Saint-Gobain completes acquisition of Bailey Group

CONCORD, ONT. — French firm Saint-Gobain recently announced it has completed the acquisition of the Bailey Group of Companies, a Canadian manufacturer of metal building products.

Under the $880-million deal Bailey will continue to operate under its current brand name.

Bailey Hunt Limited is headquartered in Concord, Ont. and has 12 locations in Canada in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia. With the deal, Saint-Gobain is in a position to add $500 million in revenues.

Saint-Gobain has previously invested $3 billion in the Canadian market over the past three years. Other deals have included the acquisition of Kaycan, a siding and exteriors provider, in 2022, and Building Products of Canada, a manufacturer of residential roofing shingles and wood fibre insulation panels, in 2023.

In February, Saint-Gobain completed the installation of a recovery system at its gypsum facility in Vancouver. In June 2022, Saint-Gobain and CertainTeed Canada announced an investment to upgrade equipment at its gypsum facility outside Montreal, increasing the plant’s production capacity by up to 40 per cent.

The plant will also transition away from fossil fuels to renewable electricity from Hydro-Quebec, making it the first zero-carbon wallboard plant in North America for scopes one and two emissions. Work on that project is currently underway.
