Edmonton construction worker hit by stolen truck while trying to stop theft

EDMONTON, ALTA. – An Edmonton construction worker was struck by a stolen vehicle when a male suspect took a truck at a worksite.

“It was reported to police that a construction crew was working in the area when a male suspect approached the site and stole a truck,” said Edmonton police spokesperson Carolin Maran.

“When a male construction worker attempted to stop the theft, he was reportedly struck by the truck, which then fled the scene.”

The incident occurred around 12:42 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8.

The construction worker was treated by EMS and transported to a hospital “for precautionary reasons,” said Maran.

Edmonton police and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrested the occupants of the vehicle late afternoon on March 8 in Plamondon, Alta. and charges are pending, she said.
