Laird Electric Inc., a subsidiary of the Churchill Corporation, has been awarded contracts on three oilsands projects in Alberta valued at $45 million.
The contracts for new work at the Shell Scotford upgrader and expansion site near Fort Saskatchewan, temporary power work for development of Imperial Oil’s Kearl Lake oilsands project, and electrical work on a new capital project at a longtime oilsands client bring Laird’s backlog of work to $82 million, the company said.
“These three awards are a positive signal that industrial construction activity in Western Canada is resuming, driven by the recovery in commodity prices which occurred during the second half of 2009 and continued into 2010,” said Jim Houck, president and CEO of Churchill.
The Churchill Corporation provides building construction, industrial insulation and electrical contracting services throughout Western Canada.
