The Vancouver Concert Hall and Theatre Society has proposed construction of a new 1,950 seat concert hall beneath the Vancouver Art Gallery. The new plan has been designed by Vancouver architect Bing Thom and would allow the Vancouver Art Gallery to move to 688 Cambie Street. If the gallery moves from its current location, the concert hall would be constructed under the north plaza of the building. Access would be from a rebuilt lobby to the north and an annex would also be rebuilt to accommodate a smaller, 450 seat theatre.
