EcoTec Homes, a division of Victoria, B.C.-based Westco Construction, has built more than 50 of an eventual 85 prefab cottages at their facility in the Sooke Industrial Park on Vancouver Island.
The West Coast-style structures, with exposed beam ceilings, engineered floors, cedar clad exteriors and metal roofs, are fully constructed and then split in half so that they can be trucked 80 kilometres to a resort development in Port Renfrew. Once on site, the cottages are placed on permanent foundations and fully-connected.
