RESORT MUNICIPALITY OF WHISLTER — A cross-country skier scoots through Lost Lake Park in Whistler, B.C. Visitors to the park can now use its PassiveHaus washroom which recently was completed.

WHISTLER, B.C. — Construction of the PassivHaus washrooms at Whistler’s Lost Lake Park have wrapped up.

Officials announced the facility is now complete and ready for cross-country skiers and snowshoe enthusiasts.

Whistler officials stated the PassivHaus washroom project was completed on schedule and within its budget. The new facility includes three inclusive, universal, family compartments.

“The need for more publicly accessible washrooms in Whistler has long been identified, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic,” reads a release from the municipality. “The addition of these commercial-grade washrooms helps to address and meet the needs of the community and guests.”

The facility’s construction and ongoing maintenance costs were paid for through B.C.’s Resort Municipality Initiative, a program to invest in tourism infrastructure and amenities.

Construction continues at the Whistler Olympic Plaza washrooms. They are scheduled to open in spring 2021.
