Call for entries for Canstruction Toronto 2020
DAVID CROWDER PHOTOGRAPHY — Aercoustics Engineering Ltd. won the Best Meal award in Canstruction Toronto’s 2019 design-build competition for its Many Cans Make Light Work structure.

TORONTO — Registration is now open for the 21st annual Canstruction Toronto design and build competition.

The competition brings teams of architects, engineers, designers, contractors and students in design faculties together to design and build structures made entirely from canned foods within a 10 foot by 10 foot by eight-foot space.

The annual, international competition aims to raise awareness about the growing hunger gap. After the competition and exhibition, the builds are decanstructed and the cans are donated to Daily Bread Food Bank, Toronto’s largest community food bank.

Information night will take place Jan. 23 at the Design Exchange in Toronto. The deadline for registration is Jan. 31 and the design submission deadline is Feb. 28. The competition itself will take place at the Toronto-Dominion Centre in Toronto. June 1 is build night. The judging and awards gala occur June 2. The structures will be open to the public from June 2 to 6 and deconstruction takes place on June 6.

Those interested are encouraged to sign up soon because space is limited. For more information email jenna@arch-lb.com.
