MISSISSAUGA, ONT. — Schneider Electric recently announced it has been awarded the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution label for two of its programs from the Solar Impulse Foundation.
The foundation is a not-for-profit organization based in Lausanne, Switzerland, that promotes and certifies products, services and processes that contribute to a circular economy, capable of economically and ecologically creating jobs and reducing emissions in one of six areas including construction, states a June 10 release.
The two Schneider programs receiving recognition by the foundation are its EcoStruxure Microgrid Advisor and NEO Network services. Recognition is based on verified standards for economic profitability and ecologic sustainability.
The release stated that Schneider Electric has committed to accomplishing the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals megatrends through its core business and has committed to achieving carbon neutrality across its extended supply chain by 2030.
The two services become part of the foundation’s 1000 Solutions program, which “aims to encourage the adoption of more ambitious environmental targets and fast-track the implementation of these solutions on a large scale,” the statement noted.
“The need to respond to environmental crises like climate change is urgent,” said Schneider senior vice-president Steve Wilhite in the statement. “Businesses are actively seeking the tools and solutions to advance their decarbonization and economic efforts.
“The work of the Solar Impulse Foundation and its 1000 Solutions program is critical to help identify and accelerate clean, economically feasible innovations.”
EcoStruxure Microgrid Advisor is a cloud-based, demand-side energy management platform that allows users to optimize the operation of distributed energy resources, giving them control over how and when to consume, produce and store energy, the release explained. NEO Network is a community of organizations advancing renewable energy and cleantech solutions around the world.
