CONCORD, ONT. — Clearway was recently been named a Caring Company by Imagine Canada, a designation is given to companies who lead by example and set the standard for corporate giving in Canada.
Caring Companies contribute a minimum of one per cent of their pre-tax profit to initiatives that support the communities where their employees work and live, indicates a release, adding in the 2019 fiscal year, Clearway contributed close to two per cent of its pre-tax profits to activities that support their local communities.
Since its founding in 1973, Clearway has been a family business. The company, which specializes in heavy civil projects, residential and commercial design-builds, equipment and haulage, includes operating divisions Clearway Construction, Clearway Utilities, Clearway Equipment, Sterling Haulage, SYNRG Group Construction Partners and Signature Communities.
“We are proud to be the only construction company in Ontario and British Columbia, and just the second in all of Canada, to carry this certification,” said Anthony Di Battista, president of Clearway, in a statement. “We are proud of our culture of giving and caring at Clearway, and excited to be included in the list of great companies recognized with this certification.
“This certification coincides with the launch of our new Clearway Cares initiative, which features a new donation matching program and a paid community service day for employees to volunteer with local community organizations and charities.”
With the cancellation of staff Christmas and holiday parties due to COVID-19, Clearway has also decided the money normally spent on catering would be donated to help feed those in need in the community. The company will be donating $2,500 to the Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto and $1,000 the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
