SNC-Lavalin awarded U.S. defence contract
SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. announced this morning it will be the managing partner of a joint-venture team awarded a five-year, US$2-billion contract to provide architect-engineer services for U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) installations and facilities worldwide. SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business will perform planning, assessments, design, construction–phase design and field inspection services towards the construction of new DoD facilities and the modernization of existing ones. Design projects will include hangars, air traffic control towers, parking, sidewalks, access roads, driveways and ammunition and explosive storage magazines.
McKenna to make infrastructure announcement
Federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities Catherine McKenna has scheduled what is termed a national infrastructure announcement for this afternoon at 1:15 p.m. EDT. McKenna will be joined by Vancouver Mayor Kennedy Stewart and Akua Schatz, a vice-president with the Canada Green Building Council.
Four premiers plan for reactor project
Ontario Premier Doug Ford will join Alberta Premier Jason Kenney, Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe and New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs today to sign a memorandum of understanding for a small modular reactor project. The event will take place at 12 p.m. EDT.
CPPIB to invest in Indian commercial development
RMZ Corp., a large India-based real estate developer, and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board announced on Monday they have entered into a joint venture to develop commercial office space in Chennai and Hyderabad in India. CPP Investments will invest the equivalent of US$210 million on the expected development of 10.4–million square feet of commercial office sites.
