The federal transport department announced Friday it will contributed $179,600 towards a construction project at J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport (YQY) on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia.
Funds from the Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP) will be used to replace 25 concrete apron panels at the airport, which form the parking surface for airplanes near the terminal. The airport, a former air force base, is located between Glace Bay and Sydney, Nova Scotia. The federal government has spent $556 million for projects at 171 airports this year through ACAP.
Earlier this week Ottawa announced it is contributing $3.2 million towards a runway rehabilitation project at the Region of Waterloo International Airport, located east of Kitchener, Ontario.
