The Churchill Corp. said that its subsidiary Stuart Olson Dominion Construction Ltd. has secured a construction management contract for three hospitals in Alberta, valued at $421 million.
The project, awarded by Alberta Infrastructure, covers the planning, design and construction of the hospitals, which will be located in Medicine Hat, Lethbridge and Edson, Alta.
“The robust macroeconomics of Western Canada are driving the need for new infrastructure and commercial development and Stuart Olson Dominion’s talented project teams are rising to the challenge,”said chief executive Jim Houck.
“We are very proud of our people, winning three of the five Alberta hospitals that were up for tender is a tremendous accomplishment.”
In detail, the Medicine Hat hospital redevelopment will cost about $200 million, and will include expanding space for ambulatory care and maternity services. The project begins in 2013 and ends in 2015.
The Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge will undergo a $113 million redevelopment for a “significant”portion of its operations, and will add a new multi-storey wing that expands its emergency department.
The project kicks off in the fall and wraps up in 2013.
In Edson, a new health care centre is budgeted at $108 million and will replace an existing facility. Construction is expected to start in 2012 and finish in 2014.
