Marshall Macklin Monaghan concludes acquisition of Bel-MK Engineering Ltd.

Daily Commercial News

The Thornhill, Ont.-headquartered firm of Marshall Macklin Monaghan (MMM) has concluded an agreement to acquire the balance of shares of its Alberta-based affiliate, Bel-MK Engineering Ltd.

The Thornhill, Ont.-headquartered firm of Marshall Macklin Monaghan (MMM) has concluded an agreement to acquire the balance of shares of its Alberta-based affiliate, Bel-MK Engineering Ltd.

MMM said the acquisition of the Calgary-based consulting engineering firm will give it a stronger presence in the thriving Alberta and British Columbia markets. MMM already owns Alberta-based surveyors Usher Canada Ltd.

The deal also:

Increases MMM’s str- ength in key sectoral markets, such as oil and gas, and improves access to new geographic markets, including northern Canada.

Improves and expands skills in key areas.

Provides broader professional development opportunities for staff in both regions.

Established in 1983, Bel-MK offers comprehensive planning, design, construction management and project management services in the fields of municipal infrastructure engineering, urban development, environmental engineering and management, solid waste management and recreational development.

In addition to Calgary, Bel-MK also has offices in Edmonton, Canmore, Grande Prairie, Camrose and Kelowna.

The firm employs approximately 65 professional, technical and administrative staff.

It has annual net revenues in the $6 million range.

MMM said Bel-MK will continue operations under its own name but will integrate more closely environmental and other services with MMM’s newly formed Geomatics and Western Canada division.

Conclusion of the deal to acquire the balance of Bel-MK shares comes in the wake of MMM’s acquisition last year of the Toronto-based mechanical and electrical consulting engineering firm of Rybka Smith & Ginsler Ltd.
