Ontario General Contractors Association recalling CCDC seals

Daily Commercial News

The Ontario General Contractors Association (OGCA), with the support of the Canadian Construction Association and the Ontario Association of Architects, is conducting a recall of any remaining CCDC 2-1994 seals.

The Ontario General Contractors Association (OGCA), with the support of the Canadian Construction Association and the Ontario Association of Architects, is conducting a recall of any remaining CCDC 2-1994 seals.

In a recent bulletin, the association said seals will be replaced free of charge with CCDC 2-2008 seals. Seals are required to validate CCDC documents.

The initiative is being undertaken “to get these old seals off the street,” said OGCA president Clive Thurston. “The 1994 document is no longer recognized as being the contract endorsed by the industry.

“All of our current negotiated supplementary conditions with owners and architects are based on the 2008 contract which was developed by owners and industry to meet the needs of all stakeholders.”
