Groves Memorial Hospital project RFP issued by IO

FERGUS, ONT. —The Ontario government has released a request for proposals (RFP) to prequalified companies to build and finance the new Groves Memorial Community Hospital project that will serve the Fergus community.

The three shortlisted teams invited to bid on the new hospital project include GMCH Partnership, EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare and PCL Constructors Canada. The teams were selected following a request for qualifications process that began in September 2015, a release explains. The winning group is expected to be announced in the summer of 2017 and construction is expected to follow soon after.

The project will feature:

a new hospital with more space for emergency, ambulatory, diagnostic and inpatient services to accommodate Fergus’ growing community;

more private inpatient rooms with showers and large windows;

modernized infection control measures, including additional isolation facilities;

up-to-date technology and clinical resources for physicians and staff; and

a new on-site helipad to allow for faster access to patient transfers by air ambulance.

The new Groves Memorial Community Hospital is expected to be completed in 2019. This project is being delivered using Infrastructure Ontario’s Alternative Financing and Procurement model. Across the province, approximately 35 major hospital projects are under construction or in various stages of planning, the release continues.

Funding for health capital projects has increased from $350 million in 2003-04 to almost $1.2 billion in 2015-16.
