HAMILTON — The Hamilton-Halton Construction Association (HHCA) is taking part in Safety Week from May 5 to 11. Three events have been scheduled, led by the association’s Young Leaders Group.
Planned for the week are:
- YLG/HHCA team participation in the Hamilton/Niagara Steps for Life fundraising walk on May 5 to benefit Threads of Life,
- a safety focused YLG Talks on May 7 featuring presentations on Mental Health Initiatives in the Workplace presented by Molson Coors Canada and using RFID’s for increased safety presented by MARLEX Engineering, and
- an Internal Accident Investigation 101 seminar on May 9. This practical session will highlight what to do when an accident occurs, how to protect and support your workers and your business.
“The Young Leaders Group is really excited to be leading the HHCA’s Safety Week activities again this year,” said Aaron Besseling, YLG co-chair in a statement.
“We may not be industry leaders yet, but we can lead the way, demonstrating to our peers and the construction community the value we place on creating a safety focused work environment .”
“Safety week is a great opportunity to shine a light on the importance of health and safety, and acknowledge the efforts made by our industry every day to continuously improve in this area,” said Sue Ramsay, HHCA general manager in a statement.
“The goal is no one gets hurt, everyone goes home safe.”
