Plaza Partners rebrands as Resident, plans new projects

TORONTO — Toronto-based real estate investor and developer Plaza Partners has announced it has rebranded as Resident.

The firm stated in a release it will operate as normal as it prepares to deliver a number of new projects across Toronto. Six of the company’s sites, including properties in the Annex, St. Clair West and Cabbagetown in Toronto and one of its transit-oriented sites in Mississauga, have been approved for mixed-use residential redevelopment.

Last quarter, Resident acquired a 4.5-acre commercial plaza site in Pickering on Kingston Road for redevelopment. The area has been identified for growth in the city’s intensification study.

“Resident reflects who we are today: a company that prides itself on a people-first approach,” stated Resident CEO Pinny Kaufman in a statement. “From the time that we started the company in 2016, our approach has been to realize the potential of underutilized sites in strong locations, close to transit and community amenities.”
