Canadian Solar closes California deal 

Canadian Solar yesterday announced that its majority-owned subsidiary, CSI Solar Co., has closed a 350 megawatt/1,400 megawatt-hour contract to provide a battery storage system, engineering, procurement, construction and long-term maintenance service to the Crimson stand-alone battery storage project in Riverside County, Calif. Crimson holds two 15-year storage contracts with local utilities Southern California Edison and Pacific Gas and Electric. 

 

Leaders on the go in Ontario 

Two of the three main national party leaders’ have announced their itineraries for today, Sept. 10. Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau is in Hamilton for an announcement. Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole visits Mississauga, where he will make an announcement at a legion hall and then is in Whitby, Ont. for an event with supporters. NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has not yet announced his plans.  

 

Carleton launches Women in Engineering and IT program 

Carleton University in Ottawa has launched its new Women in Engineering and Information Technology program this month, led by the Faculty of Engineering and Design. Corporate supporters include BlackBerry, QNX, the Canadian Internet Registration Authority, Ericsson, Nokia, Solace, Trend Micro, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, CGI, Gastops, Leonardo DRS, Lockheed Martin Canada, Amdocs, EllisDon and Ross.
