Pride Month: A retrospective glance at the construction industry’s progress

TORONTO — Each summer, June kicks off a variety of initiatives and events for 2SLGBTQI+ communities across Ontario.

The construction sector is no exception. Companies, associations, workers and the like celebrate Pride Month in a variety of ways.

But the month-long celebrations are just one component. Inclusivity, diversity and equality are characteristics that should be exhibited by people across jobsites and workplaces all year-round and in perpetuity.

The industry has come a long over the years, with more leaders, employees and workers stepping up to make everyone feel welcome and accepted.

The Daily Commercial News decided to take a look back at the more notable profiles and issue-based stories we have covered that showcase some of the challenges that are still relevant today, the progress that’s been made along the way and the accomplishments those in the industry should be proud of.
