Toronto e-cyclist struck, killed by flatbed truck heading to construction site

TORONTO—Toronto Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the death of an e-cyclist who was the victim of a collision with a flatbed truck on the afternoon of April 30.

The incident occurred in the Avenue Road and Elgin Avenue area of Toronto. The southbound truck was attempting to turn left towards a loading dock at 87 Avenue Rd., a site described as a construction jobsite by a police spokesperson on the scene.

While making the left turn, the truck fatally struck a 39-year-old male cyclist. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

As of May 2, there were no police updates and the investigation is ongoing. The Ministry of Labour is also looking into the incident.
