The Greater Toronto Home Builders’ Association has named Cachet Estate Homes as its homebuilder of the year.
“What made us stand out this year, I think our homeowners spoke so well of us,” says Desi Auciello, president of Cachet. “We asked our customers to support us and they obviously did in those independent surveys.”
The GTHBA asked new homebuyers to respond to a 10-question, 100-point survey covering the sales experience to after-sales service, the home itself and its design.
Auciello said the responses “were extremely positive”.
The customers who replied are living in the company’s developments in Brooklin, Erin Mills, Brampton and Richmond Hill.
Auciello’s father, Anthony, founded Cachet in 1981. Anthony started building custom homes “and slowly over the years we entered into the subdivision community building market.” The company now has over 35 staff. Auciello’s father remains chairman of the board while his uncle, Anthony’s brother Joe, is its projects’ manager.
Auciello, who became president a few years ago, has been with Cachet since its creation, working on the professional side rather than the construction end.
Cachet builds 250 to 350 homes a year and Auciello says he wants to stay with that volume because it’s “a comfortable place”.
The Home Builder of the Year Award was launched by the GTHBA in 1998, when the association shifted its awards toward a consumer orientation and away from a focus on marketing. It is marking its 25th anniversary of providing awards to its members, who now number over 1,250.
