Glass work is nearing the top floor on the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.
General contractor Eastern Construction Co. Ltd. began the work in April 2007 and completion has been scheduled for 2010.
The project consists of two, nine-storey research centres with a coffee shop on the ground floor and three levels of underground parking.
The Project Team:
The Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute at St. Michael’s Hospital was designed by Diamond + Schmitt Architects Inc. Consultants are: Carruthers & Wallace Ltd. (structural); H.H. Angus & Associates (mechanical/electrical); and Ferris & Associates Inc. (landscape). Subcontractors include: Terrasan Environmental (excavation); Anchor Shoring & Caissons Ltd.; Alliance Forming; C & T Reinforcing Steel Co. (1987) Ltd.; Limen Group (precast/masonry); Dufferin Concrete; Black & McDonald (mechanical); Guild Electric Ltd.; Vipond Inc. (fire protection); Merit Glass Ltd.; Semple-Gooder Roofing Ltd./Triumph Roofing; and Kone Inc. (elevators).
