Construction is moving along on the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. General contractor Eastern Construction Co. Ltd. began the project in April 2007 and completion has been scheduled for 2010.
The work includes two, nine-storey research centres, a ground floor coffee shop and three levels of underground parking. The project was designed by Diamond + Schmitt Architects Inc.
Consultants are: Carruthers & Wallace Ltd. (structural); H.H. Angus & Associates (mechanical/electrical); and Ferris & Associates Inc. (landscape).
Subcontractors include: Terrasan Environmental (excavation); Anchor Shoring & Caissons Ltd.; Alliance Forming; C & T Reinforcing Steel Co. (1987) Ltd.; Limen Group (precast/masonry); Dufferin Concrete; Black & McDonald (mechanical); Guild Electric Ltd.; Vipond Inc. (fire protection); Merit Glass Ltd.; Semple-Gooder Roofing Ltd./Triumph Roofing; and Kone Inc. (elevators).
