KITCHENER, Ont.
A Grander View, the headquarters of Enermodal Engineering, won the 2011 Livable Building Award from the Center for the Built Environment at the University of California, Berkeley.
The award was based on two elements: results from an occupancy survey of Enermodal employees working at A Grander View, with the results compared to a database of hundreds of occupancy survey results from buildings across North America; and an award submission that outlined the green building features.
The project has achieved LEED Platinum in three categories: New Construction, Commercial Interiors, and Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance.
“As a consulting firm that built its reputation as an industry leader in green building design, creating a high-performance, healthy indoor environment for our employees is not only an important showcase for our clients but helps us attract and retain the industry’s brightest and most innovative minds,” said Stephen Carpenter, president of Enermodal Engineering.
“It is wonderful to receive this recognition as North America’s most ‘livable building’ from this respected research, education, and advocacy organization.”
Enermodal was the LEED consultant, energy efficiency engineer, building commissioning agent, building performance monitoring specialist, the green education consultant, and the mechanical/electrical engineer for A Grander View.
Robertson Simmons architects inc. and Melloul Blamey Construction were the architect and contractor respectively.
