The Regional Municipality of Niagara recently announced that Cole Engineering Group Ltd. has started an environmental assessment to identify “suitable alternatives” for deficiencies at the Cole Farm Sewage Pumping Station in St. Catharines, Ontario.
“This facility has been identified as requiring upgrades including: removal and replacement of the existing raw sewage pumps, process piping and valves, installation of a new valve chamber and upgrades to the existing electrical system and building,” the regional government stated in a public notice posted to its website Thursday. “The proposed upgrades will improve the control and operation of the aging pumping station, and will also address all existing maintenance issues.”
Niagara Region is the upper tier of municipal government for St. Catharines as well as other cities and towns along and west of the Niagara River.
The sewage pumping station is at 26 Colton Avenue in the St. Catharines neighbourhood of Port Dalhousie.
