Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition takes place this May

SHERBROOKE, QUE.—Engineering students will be taking part in the 2022 Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition, which will be hosted at Université de Sherbrooke in Sherbooke, Que. from May 13 to 15.

The competition offers the opportunity for future engineering students to apply theories and concepts learned in class to a challenging project. It also provides a hands-on experience that contributes to their education.

For the last 24 years, Canadian universities have been building concrete canoes and are evaluated on academic, technical and sports aspects. A special feature is that the canoe must float when completely filled with water and needs to accommodate up to four people to do races, states the website.
