St. Lawrence Erectors lands Montreal bridge contracts

SAINT-GEORGES, QUE. —St. Lawrence Erectors Inc. has announced that it has signed agreements totalling $35 million for the rehabilitation of the Jacques Cartier Bridge and the installation of the Lachine Canal Bridge as part of the Turcot reconstruction project in Montreal.

For the Jacques Cartier Bridge, St. Lawrence Erectors will act as the general contractor for the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated.

The contract is for strengthening the bridge, replacing existing chords and structural bearings with new ones, to be provided by Goodco Z-Tech, a product of Canam-Bridges.

St. Lawrence Erectors has been a subsidiary of Canam Group Inc. since 2015.

The work will take place from April 2016 to May 2017.

The contract for the Lachine Canal Bridge installation was awarded by KPH Turcot. It is for installing the structural steel and precast concrete slabs for the bridge deck and installing the mast and cables.

The work will be done in two phases, from 2016 to 2019.

Canam Group operates 22 plants across North America and employs 4,300 people in Canada, the United States, Romania, India and Hong Kong.

St. Lawrence Erectors specializes in the installation of structural steel for the commercial and industrial sectors as well as for bridge infrastructure.

The deals were announced April 29.
