Lower Don Trail reopens

TORONTO — The upgraded Lower Don Trail officially reopened to the public Sept. 23 as part of Ravine Days, a weekend-long celebration of Toronto’s ravine network.

The trail’s improvements include: a new trail bridge over the Don River at Pottery Road; a wider trail tunnel under the currently inactive Metrolinx rail line at the Belleville underpass; new art installations in the Lower Don Parklands, in partnership with Evergreen; and a connection to the Bayview multi-use trail, including a connection to the Brick Works.

On hand for the reopening were Mayor John Tory, Councillor Mary-Margaret McMahon, chair of the city’s Parks and Environment Committee, Councillor Mary Fragedakis, Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam and representatives from partners Evergreen and the Trans Canada Trail.
