TORONTO — Great Canadian Gaming Corporation has given a name to its casino project currently under construction in Pickering, Ont.: Pickering Casino Resort.
Construction of the resort started last year and is projected to open in two phases, stated an Aug. 12 release. The first phase is slated to open in early 2020 and will feature gaming and dining outlets, while the second phase will include a 2,500-seat live entertainment venue and a hotel tower with 175 guest rooms.
“While we have so much more to develop and construct, being able to share the brand name of the resort with the community is an exciting next step for us,” said resort general manager Tyrone Waite.
In August 2017, Great Canadian and Brookfield were selected as the successful proponents by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation to operate the three existing gaming facilities in the GTA, now branded as Casino Woodbine, Casino Ajax and Great Blue Heron Casino.
