Hard Rock breaks ground on Ottawa hotel and casino
HARD ROCK INTERNATIONAL — The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Ottawa is targeted for completion in the spring of 2025.

OTTAWA — Construction has officially started on the future Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Ottawa off Albion Road in the city.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held June 6 at Rideau Carleton Casino, the site of the new build.

The facility will include a 150-room Hard Rock Hotel, including 22 suites; an expanded Hard Rock Casino with 1,500 slot machines, 40 live action table games, Sportsbook, high-limit gaming and a Baccarat room; an 1,800-seat Hard Rock Live theatre with standing room for 2,200; and more than 10 restaurants, bars and lounges, including the Hard Rock Café.

Completion of the project is planned for the spring of 2025. The Rideau Carleton Casino will remain open during construction.

The $350-million construction project is one of the largest private investment developments currently in Ottawa. It is expected to create 1,900 direct and indirect construction and ongoing employment jobs in the city of Ottawa, according to a statement.

“We are excited to be one step closer to bringing our iconic brand and rich music history to the people of Ottawa and the surrounding region,” said Hard Rock International COO Jon Lucas in the release.

As part of the ceremony, Rideau Carleton Casino presented a $20,000 donation to Minwaashin Lodge, a local Indigenous women’s shelter.

Hard Rock International is wholly owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
