SNC-Lavalin opens Lava Labs
SNC-Lavalin announced today the launch of a set of new technology facilities at offices around the world designed to “accelerate its technological leadership capabilities.” The Lava Labs will offer clients access to modern data and technology systems, “allowing them to visualize, collaborate and deliver their projects in new and innovative ways.” One of the first Lava Labs will be located in Montreal.
Feds announce rural transit fund
The federal government yesterday announced the creation of a $250-million Rural Transit Solutions Fund to support the development of transit in rural and remote communities. The initial call for applications under the fund will include grants of up to $50,000 in support of project planning for future capital projects or pilot projects, up to $3 million to help cover capital costs and up to $5 million to support zero-emission transit systems.
Waste management centre calls for plastic bottles for art project
The City of Regina’s new Waste Management Centre will have custom-designed original art and the public is invited to a series of workshops and to donate plastic bottles as well as plywood, old or broken doors and wooden tables. Artist Bruno Hernani will livestream his work and the workshops will be held on August 28 and Sept. 11 at Neil Balkwill Civic Art Centre. More information is available at Regina.ca/artworkshop.
