MONTREAL
Construction and engineering company SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) said it has acquired MDH Engineered Solutions, a Saskatchewan-based engineering consulting and research firm, for an undisclosed amount.
The privately-owned firm specializes in geological and environmental engineering consulting services to the mining, oil and gas, transportation, utility and government sectors. Its staff total about 175 people based in Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert and Esterhazy, Sask., and in Edmonton and Fort McMurray, Alta.
“MDH Engineered Solutions expands our offering into the Saskatchewan mining and oil & gas sectors and adds key resources that will help us achieve our strategic objectives” said SNC’s executive vice-president Jim Burke in a release.
“The synergies between our two companies will support our goal to supply a wide scope of environmental services.”
MDH Engineered Solutions president Moir Haug said the transaction will allow it to grow.
“Joining SNC-Lavalin will solidify our existing operations to make our whole team an even stronger force as we intensify our efforts to expand geographically into B.C., Northern Canada, and internationally,” he said.
SNC-Lavalin is one of the leading engineering and construction groups in the world. It operates in some 100 countries.
