Rebar and formwork progresses at the University of Toronto’s Centre for Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship within the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering at the St. George campus in Toronto.

Bird Construction is general contractor for the eight-storey facility with two levels underground for parking and student club space. An auditorium on the ground floor will serve as an undergraduate classroom with interactive and multifunctional teaching facilities and clusters of design studios. A centre atrium on levels five to eight allows for open collaboration between all levels within the facility. The owner is the University of Toronto and completion is expected in the fall of 2017. The architect and prime consultant is Montgomery Sisam Architects. Consultants are: Read Jones Christoffersen Ltd. (structural); Smith + Andersen (mechanical/electrical); Terraprobe Inc. (geotechnical/shoring); MMM Group (civil) and NAK Design (landscape). Subcontractors include: Aquatech Dewatering Co.; RONI Excavating; Metric Contracting Services Inc. (site services); Avenue Building Corporation (formwork/concrete placing and finishing); Res Precast; Benson Steel (structural); Mansteel Rebar Ltd.; Bernel Masonry Ltd.; Geo A. Kelson Co. Ltd. (mechanical); Symtech innovations Ltd. (electrical); Vipond Inc. (fire protection); Zimmcor Glazing Systems; Flynn Canada Ltd. (roofing); Outspan Concrete and Centerline Elevator Corp.
