Leaders prep for French debate

The three main national party leaders are all in Montreal tonight for the TVA French-language leaders debate. Neither Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau nor Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole has other events scheduled, according to the Canadian Press. NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has a media conference in the morning followed by two events in parks where he will serve poutine.


K2 buys Meaford seniors residence

Toronto-based K2 Group announced this morning that it has completed the acquisition of Riverside Living, a retirement residence located in Meaford, Ont. The property, consisting of three one-storey buildings, was purchased from MCT Investments Inc.


CCA invites award nominations

Nominations for the 2021 Canadian Construction Association National Awards are now open, as of Sept. 1. There are nine award categories this year, with the addition of the new CCA Young Leader Award, which recognizes individuals 40 and under whose career employment is in the Canadian construction industry and whose firm is a CCA member firm.


Carpenters’ host Fit for Duty webinar

The Carpenters’ Labour-Management Health and Safety Committee is holding a free Fit for Duty webinar on Sept. 13. Speakers including Norm Keith, Michael Church and Julian Toy. The event is being promoted by the Ontario General Contractors Association.


AGC to release new pandemic impact data

At noon ET today, the Associated General Contractors of America and Autodesk will release new data showing the scope and impact of construction workforce shortages on the U.S. construction sector and how the ongoing coronavirus, including the Delta variant, has impacted the sector. The data will include national, regional and state figures.
