Women in Construction Week: A key role in construction’s future

Women in Construction Week: A key role in construction’s future

TORONTO — Every year the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) commemorates WIC Week™, or Women in Construction Week™, by celebrating and promoting the role of women in the industry.

The week kicked off yesterday (March 3) and will run until March 9. It will be filled with NAWIC events, hosted by many local chapters, but also celebrated by the broader industry across North America.

The first WIC Week was held in 1998 and has grown exponentially since then.

This year’s theme, Keys to the Future, celebrates the strength and knowledge of women and the vital role they play in shaping the future of construction.

The Daily Commercial News and Journal of Commerce celebrate the role women play in the industry by continuing to cover all aspects, be it their challenges or their many accomplishments. We have compiled a list of stories that provide a cross-section into some of our coverage of women in construction.

Throughout WIC week and during the entire month of March in our Women in Construction feature, we will be showcasing various women and their personal journeys to success as well as attending numerous events and panel discussions.
