Worker killed at Scarborough jobsite

TORONTO — A construction worker was injured and pronounced dead at a Scarborough, Ont. jobsite Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Kennedy Road and Passmore Avenue. Reports from Toronto police and the Ministry of Labour indicated that the male victim was reported to be moving items onto a vehicle when there was a fatal mishap involving an excavator bucket. EMS and Toronto police rushed to the scene, followed by a coroner, who confirmed that the death was work related.

The worker was employed by GFL Environmental.

Two ministry inspectors attended the scene and issued one requirement to not to disturb the scene. The ministry investigation remains ongoing.
