As part of its growth strategy in Latin America, Montreal- based Dessau-Soprin has acquired the Chile consulting engineering firm of Ingentra S.A.
The Quebec engineering/construction firm has had a presence in Latin America for the past eight years— working on electrification projects in Peru and on rehabilitation of water treatment plants and purification systems in Venezuela.
“With the acquisition of Ingentra, Dessau-Soprin is clearly bent on pursuing its growth strategy in Latin America,” said Jean-Pierre Sauriol, president of chief executive officer of Dessau-Soprin.
“The Dessau-Soprin/Ingentra association gives us the opportunity of pooling our complementary areas of expertise and know-how in order to provide our Chilean clients with a one-stop offering in terms of infrastructure.”
The 50-person firm Ingentra has made a name for itself on electrical power projects in Chile.
Dessau-Soprin is a consulting firm specializing in engineering, technology and construction, with annual sales of more than $150 million.
It has 1,500 employees.
Jean Tousignant has been designated to lead the operations of the new Chile venture and to act as chairman of the board.
A Dessau-Soprin employee since 1988, Tousignant is the firm’s senior vice-president of energy and telecommunications.
