Michael Van Dusan appointed president of civil engineering firm Halsall Associates

After an intensive evaluation process, Michael Van Dusen has been selected to succeed Peter Halsall as president of Halsall Associates.

After an intensive evaluation process, Michael Van Dusen has been selected to succeed Peter Halsall as president of Halsall Associates.

A member of the Halsall team since 1985, Van Dusen has gained extensive experience in building design, construction, evaluation and restoration. He previously served as Halsall’s national restoration practice leader, responsible for driving innovation in the company’s building repair and renewal services.

The company said Van Dusen has long been a champion of integrating the company’s wealth of technical experience and expertise into its processes and knowledge base. He has also supported Halsall’s growth in the Ottawa market.

“Mike’s selection as the next president of Halsall recognizes his commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, his significant impact advancing our restoration practice and his role over the years in mentoring and developing key individuals,” said Jay Leedale, chair of the president transition committee.

“He has garnered widespread respect within the company and the industry at large.”

Van Dusen holds a civil engineering degree from the University of Waterloo and a master’s degree in structural engineering from the University of Toronto. He is a registered professional engineer in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.

As incoming president, Van Dusen will be responsible for the general management of Halsall and will maintain roles on service delivery teams.

Peter Halsall will continue as chairman of Halsall as well as the other businesses in the Canadian operating company of Parsons Brinckerhoff.

While the plans for the management transition predated the merger with Parsons Brinckerhoff, Halsall Associates said the transaction and appointment of Van Dusen as president has also afforded Peter Halsall the opportunity to promote sustainability on a broader scale.

Halsall has over 50 years of experience in building design, evaluation and renewal.
