Infrastructure Ontario and the Woodstock Hospital Trust have scheduled a public information centre April 17 to present a preferred development plan for the former site of the Woodstock hospital.
The hospital, now located at 310 Juliana Drive near Highway 401 and Sweaburg Road, has two parcels of land at its former site, near Devonshire Avenue and Vansittart Avenue, at 270 Riddell Street. One parcel is 6.4 acres and the other is 1.9 acres.
The public information centre is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17 at the Royal Canadian Legion building at 576 Brant Street, about two blocks east of the former hospital lands.
A consulting team, led by MHBC Planning, is undertaking a planning study to consider how to best use the lands for further development.
The lands are currently zoned institutional. The city will not take applications to amend the land use until the optimal use study is finalized. The old hospital opened in 1895 and had 113 beds.
The new Woodstock Hospital, designed by Parkin Architects Ltd. and built by EllisDon Corp., was finished last June and had its grand opening in August. It has a capacity of up to 178 beds.
